Matthew

The Book of Matthew is the first book of the New Testament and one of the three synoptic gospels. Our magazine-style booklet contains the complete New International Version (NIV) of Matthew. Our individual books of the Bible are inexpensive and are great for school, Bible study and casual reading.

"She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus"

“She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”

"With him I am well pleased"

As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”

"Blessed are the poor in spirit"

His disciples came to him, and he began to teach them, saying: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”

"They all ate and were satisfied"

Then he took the seven loaves and the fish, and when he had given thanks, he broke them and gave them to the disciples, and they in turn to the people. They all ate and were satisfied.

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart"

“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ ”

"May this cup be taken from me"

“My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”

"I am innocent of this man’s blood"

When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but that instead an uproar was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd. “I am innocent of this man’s blood,” he said. “It is your responsibility!”

"My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"

About the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?”— which means, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

"He is not here; he has risen"

The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said.”
